  The Truth About Trin-i-tee 5:7
When word began surfacing on the Internet that Trin-I-tee 5:7 had left gospel music to sing secular, many were alarmed. The rumor mill churned out several other stories about Adrian, Chanelle and Angel. Among them, that the trio had switched managers and signed on with Sonja Norwood, the mother of pop star Brandy, and that they had abandoned the record lable that gave them their successful start, B Rite Music.
How do these stories gel started? I'm not sure, but you know we have answers straight from the source.
I talked to Trin-I-tee 5:7 face to face just prior to their performance at the NABFEMH Summit in Philly recently.' The  lovely ladies had recently returned from a European tour, on which Angel said, "The people are very welcoming and very excited to have you because they don't get a whole lot of gospel artists from the States." Trin-I-tee 5:7 enjoyed them to and observed that there is a great love for gospel music through out the world.
So, are they still singing gospel music or a new tune? "We are actually in the process of perfecting Trin-l-tee 5:7," Chanelle explained. "We're never in a place where we feel like we've arrived and we don't have that spirit. We have a spirit of excellence. So the girls and are constantly pulling ourselves together, pulling together material for things in the future, pulling together our team, tightening our system because we care  about our manner of business
because this next time around we truly want to makesure that everybody who benefits, benefits. And more than anything, that our fans truly receive what we're putting out there.

  Is Trin-l-tee 5:7 leaving gospel?

Although many call them a gospel group, Trin-I-tee 5:7's style has been edgy from the giddyup. Their fashionable wardrobe and stage performances would hardly cause anyone to label them as churchgirls. Their first hit, "God's Grace," was an R&B-stylic ballad that R.Kelly wrote and produced back in 1998.

While the trio's approach may not be traditional in die gospel sense, the integrity of their ministry has remained a top priority. "We will maintain our message of Christ," Chanelle said. "We will maintain that because that's who we are. Really, our music is not going to be much different from the music that we've always recorded. If you listen, from Spiritual Love to The Kiss, we sing songs about our life experience and we've never denied that," she said of their last two albums. "A lot of people have had problems with that, but that's okay."

Has the group changed record labels? "We're not really truly one hundred percent at liberty to discuss in detail what we are doing," Chanelle answered. "But we are in a transitional period as it relates to our record company and we are aspiring to things that have to do with our growth and our development and we are going into a direction that we're more comfortable with."

Hmmm. Well alrighty then.

  Sonja Norwood Manages Trin-i-tee 5:7

After hearing about Sonja Norwood's business accomplishments from an associate, Trin-I-tee 5:7 met with her and decided to sign with the Norwood & Norwood management firm. "They're the sweetest couple," Chanelle said of Sonja and husband Willie Norwood. 'They have so much love and true concern about not just us as Trin-I-tee, but as individuals. One of the first things she told us was that "I'm not just managing the singing  aspect of what you do, I'm managing your career in every facet" We had all these big dreams. We thought we were telling her something..."We want this ,we want that...." and she said, "You don't dream big enough." That was the first time someone ever in our inner circle and our nucleus dreamed bigger than we did. That felt so good!"

Adrian said Sonja is a teacher as well. "We had to become better business women. You grow over the years. Sonja is about education. Norwood & Norwood is about education and you can't just sit back and be the artist because she doesn't work for you, she works with you. So you're going to be educated along the way."
